We must live our best lives

Hey guys! Today is April 7th, 2021 and today I’ve decided that I want to discuss the idea of living ones best life. I have been in school for 14 years of my 17 which is a long time. I have nothing against education and in fact I love learning about history and geography and I love reading and writing. I aspire to be an Environmental Scientist which for me is to include 4 years of college. This is where my school education ends but I will forever be learning. On the flip side of going to school and earning an education to do what we want to do with our lives we need to make time to live in the now. I have always greatly valued family, friends, travel, camping, anything outdoorsy and anything that wasn’t precisely planned. There needs to be a healthy balance between your life at work or at school and between getting out and just really living your life with the people who are close to doing all things you love and getting out into the natural world.

There is nothing more exhilarating than standing on the edge of a cliff with the wind blowing in your hair.

There is no feeling greater than standing in the shallows of a beach and feeling the waves beat up against you.

There is nothing more peaceful than the sound of crickets and frogs at night in the summertime

Nothing smells better than the earth after a cool rain

And there is nothing more nostalgic then laying on the grass, unconcerned about bugs or dirt whilst feeling the rays of the warm sun shine down on you

Like this shark in this aquarium people are caged. People in offices constantly have artificial lighting and people everywhere live through the same routines almost each and every day in an oftentimes meaningless cycle.

For awhile I only knew going to school. I woke up at 6am. Was ready by 7am. Borded the bus at 7am almost everytime nearly missing it. Got to school at 8am and was in class my 830am when the first rang.

I know better than this now. I know that this mundane and tedious routine which sucks the spirit, wonder and joy out of life isn’t all there is to life.

I know that you can get an education while travelling. You can study while spending time with family. You can get good grades while hanging out with friends.

If you increase the time you spend with friends and family or the time you have to yourself in nature or doing a sport or a hobby that you love your life at work and at school is much more likely to improve. You are much more likely to get good grades and have a consistent attendance.

Many people wait for weekends. Many others spend their lives at 9-5s and hope that by retirement they will have worked hard enough to earn a pension or worked long enough hours to afford a house on a beach or in the mountains somewhere.

The reality is that this is not likely.

So why waste your life when you could live it?

I hope that you will consider this ideology tomorrow and the next day and for the rest of the week, month and year.

How much of your life have you already wasted not doing what you want to be doing?

If you stay tuned for my next blog on Wednesday the 14th, 2021 I will explain how the life we want to live is just outside our door.
